It's the new motto of the City of Independence Police Department. Improving the quality of life in Independence by providing a safe and secure environment is the framework by which the Police Department works.
The Police Department works around the clock to provide residents a safe and secure environment. The department is staffed by 37 trained officers and 20 dedicated civilians who provide a host of police, crime prevention and safety services.

The Police Department also staffs the following specialty officers for the added safety and service to residents:

S.E.B.
The Independence Police Department continues its participation in the Southwest Enforcement Bureau (SEB). SEB is a regional organization made up of emergency services personnel from eighteen surrounding suburbs. SEB maintains tactical response capabilities for hostage/barricade situations, crowd control, high-risk warrant service and bomb disposal. SEB may also respond to any other emergency or situation beyond the means of a single department. Our Department has five (5) men assigned to SEB. Four officers are trained in special weapons and tactics and one as a bomb disposal technician.
Call 911 Anytime You Have an Emergency
To save a life. . . or health emergency. . . to stop a crime. . . or to report an imposing emergency. . . to report a fire.
When you call 911 you should stay calm, tell the 911 dispatcher where the emergency is located and what type of emergency is needed (police, fire, EMS).
