Dominion East Ohio Gas Line
Construction Project

The gas main on Brecksville Road, which runs down the middle of the median, will be replaced from Sprague Road to Lafayette Boulevard. Some of the work will take place in the tree lawn on the west side of Brecksville Road, as well as in the southbound lanes of Brecksville Road between Archwood/ Cherry and Downtown Brecksville Road.

  • Anticipated start of construction is early July
  • Anticipated completion of construction is November/December

Operations for this project will take place daily between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Driveway access is expected to be maintained throughout the duration of the project with possible temporary closures. Gas service will be maintained even if the connections have to be replaced.  The work zone and all areas disturbed by the contractor will be restored to their current conditions upon the completion of these projects. We understand there will be inconveniences, such as, noise, mud, traffic restrictions, and some delays, and we ask for your patience.

The progress of this project can be tracked by accessing the Engineering page. Please direct any questions, comments, or concerns, with regard to this project, to the Engineering Department by calling (216) 524-1374.

Brecksville Road and Pleasant Valley Road Intersection Upgrade Project

The following work will involve:
The Relocation of Utility Poles
The construction of two right turn lanes
The installation of new asphalt pavement
The installation of new Traffic Signals
Landscaping and related site work

It is anticipated the upgrade project will take approximately 2 months to complete the roadway work and an additional 2 months for signal work.  The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 20, 2010 and completed by early January 2011.  Every effort will be made to facilitate acceptable traffic flow at all times, but especially during peak traffic hours.

Your patience and understanding is requested as this is a very busy intersection and some inconveniences to motorists will be unavoidable.

Chestnut Road Repairs and Resurfacing Project

The following work will be done on Chestnut Road beginning the week of September 13th:

  • grinding and resurfacing of the roadway
  • repair of catch basins, curbs and sidewalks

Work will begin at the east end of Chestnut Road in Independence and move west to the Seven Hills border and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2010.  Traffic movement will be restricted and slowed down significantly while the project is taking place.  There will be many times when it will be impossible to keep two lanes of traffic maintained and open.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as this project is completed.
