Summer Band Concert Series
Enjoy a leisurely summer evening and listen to some live music on Thursdays at the Bandstand next to Town Hall. Refreshments are available by various non-profit city organizations. Canned food donations are appreciated. Music starts at 7 pm

Home Days & Parade
An annual event for the City of Independence to share in the celebration of our community. There are many wonderful activities starting with the parade, carnival rides, games, contests, live entertainment, and dancing. A tasty variety of food & drinks are provided by city organizations. Fall Fest & Clambake
Independence families and their friends are invited to Elmwood Park to enjoy fun and festive activities with entertainment & dancing, City-sponsored crafts for the kids, Fun House, a hay ride, and much more! A variety of food & drinks provided by City organizations and a clambake (must be pre-ordered) will be available. Admission: one canned food item or monetary donation per person.

Veterans Day Celebration
The mayor extends a special invitation to our residents that are Veterans or serving in the Armed Forces to join us for a special program honoring them.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Every year, Independence families and their friends come together at the Tree Lighting Ceremony to share the spirit of a community holiday celebration. All are welcome to sing Christmas carols, roast marshmallows and warm up with hot cocoa. Santa's special arrival assists the city to shine their lights. A non-perishable food item or donation is appreciated for the Salvation Army.

The Civic Center becomes a special place for Independence families and their friends to enjoy performances by local organizations, vendors with unique gifts for purchase, pictures with Santa, City sponsored kids' crafts, and delicious food. A canned food or donation is appreciated for the Yuletide Hunger Program.
Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 from Noon - 4 pm at the Civic Center
A day to commemorate and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away. It is a non-denominational service to include music, readings, and the name of your loved one to be read aloud as you place a remembrance ornament on the tree.
