Youth Programs

LITTLE LEAGUE 2017

Our Little League program is one of the best in Cuyahoga County; baseballchildren from ages 5 to 18 can play recreational baseball, softball and fast pitch.  We have six diamonds, 4 that are lighted.  Sign-up begins in January and ends mid-April, practices begin shortly after and games begin the end of May until mid-July.  Coaching is done on a volunteer basis by parents and young adults.  This program is open to residents and students of St. Michael's School.



Fee: $30 (6 & Under) / $40 (7 & Over)



CAVS ACADEMY SUMMER CAMP


Does your child have Cavs fever? The Cleveland Cavaliers are hosting a Summer Camp at the Independence Fieldhouse for boys and girls of all skill levels, ages 5 - 14. The program is June 19 - 23 from 9am to 3pm, enrollment includes Cavs Academy uniform and basketball, water bottle, drawstring bag and certificate. 2017/2018 CO-ED SOCCER

Our soccer program is coordinated by the Suburban Soccer League.  Registration for the 2017 Fall and 2018 Spring Soccer season begins in June 2017.   

soccerOur games will be played in Broadview Heights, Middleburg Heights, Parma Heights, Valley View, Seven Hills, Macedonia, Twinsburg, Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights.  All players must register, new teams will be formed, and this will be the only registration for the 17/18 season!  COACHES ARE NEEDED!  For more league information please go to SRSL ONLINE.

Fee:    $65 New Player

           $40 if you have uniform from last year

We also have a program for children  3 & 4 years old and 5 years old, Soccer for these groups are also played in the Fall and Spring.  Our soccer fields are located in Elmwood Park and in front of the Independence Fieldhouse.  The program for 3 & 4 year old's is residents only.  Soccer for 5's is open to residents and students of St. Michael's School.

 

ALL NEW PLAYERS MUST PRESENT BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION AS PROOF OF AGE.  



OUTDOOR YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS:

Denise Zalar is a PSIA Certified Tennis Instructor.  Students will learn tennis play while developing a foundation in stroke fundamentals, court coverage and the rules of the game.  Learn how to play tennis or just brush up on your skills.  Come join us on the lighted tennis courts, class size is limited to 14 so please register early.

FLAG FOOTBALL PROGRAM 

KINDERGARTEN TO 6TH GRADE
Residents & St. Michael Students.  
Fee:  $25.00  


We are expanding our Flag Football program to include Kindergarten through 2nd Grade.  Coaches are needed.  All practices and games will be held in Elmwood Park.     

OHIO LAW 143
Effective on April 26, 2013, Ohio Law 143.  This is the law known as the "Return to Play" Law dealing with youth concussions and when a youth player is allowed to return to play.  All Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Umpires, and Referees must complete the FREE course to continue coaching, umpiring or refereeing  in any and all sports.  http://www.nfslearn.com/index.aspx Click on "Courses" at the top of the page, find and click on "Concussion in Sports-What you need to know".  You will have to register with the National Federation of State High School Association before you take the course.  It takes about 25 minutes to complete, once you have passed the course you will be able to print a certificate.  Please take the time to look into to this and take the course, this is an effort to improve prevention, recognition and response to sports-related concussions.  It is our responsibility as parents, coaches, referees and umpires to help recognize and make the call to pull an athlete off the field, ice, or court if you think that a player might have a concussion.
