Full Time
The City Civil Service Commission conducts competitive Civil Service exams for full time firefighter/paramedic positions. Applicants are required to meet the following criteria to take the test:
- Citizen of the United States
- At least 18 years old and not older than 35 at the time of the test
- High School graduate
- Ohio Driver license
- Valid Ohio Paramedic Card
- Valid Ohio Firefighter II Certification
- Current firefighter physical agility certificate from Cuyahoga Community College
- Testing is done every 1 - 2 years for new candidates with administration approval. Exam information and dates will be updated for each test.
Part Time
Applications are accepted at any time for part time Firefighter/Paramedics. Interviews and hiring are typically conducted once or twice per year. Part time applicants are required to meet the following criteria for consideration for employment:
- Citizen of the United States
- At least 18 years old
- High School graduate (or GED)
- Valid Ohio Driver license (no major violations and no more than 6 points)
- Valid Ohio Paramedic Certification
- Valid Ohio Firefighter II Certification
- Current physical agility certificate from Cuyahoga Community College with a total time less than 5 minutes
