CPR/Stop the Bleed Classes
The IFD conducts quarterly CPR/AED (Heartsaver/Layperson) classes for the public, local businesses, church groups, schools, and anyone else who may need this certification. Our courses are taught by our CPR instructors who are all AHA certified. 

Quarterly classes in 2022 are on the following dates:
     - 12 March
     - 4 June
     - 10 September
     - 17 December
All classes are held at the Independence Fire Department Training Room, starting at 9am.  Classes take about 3 hours.  Cost is $20 to cover administrative fees, and you need to call the Community Services Department (216-524-7373) to register (pre-registration required).

Fire Station Tours
Local groups may call and schedule tours of the fire station and equipment with advance notice.

Fire Extinguisher Classes
IFD offers classes in proper use of fire extinguishers for local businesses. Call our Fire Prevention office for more information or for scheduling

Local School Fire Prevention Awareness Training
The Independence Fire Department operates a 39’ safety trailer that is equipped with the following:
•Tornado/Hurricane Simulator
•Simulated kitchen and bedroom smoke
•Fire safety and exit drills that can be safely simulated under the watch of our firefighters
•Cameras that allow parents to view their children from outside
•IFD conducts several classes with all the local schools and age groups each year, usually during Fire Prevention Month.
