Elmwood Recreation Center

Elmwood Recreation Center, our original recreation facility, was built in 1962 and is available for rental to Independence residents. The building is located in Elmwood Park right next to the pond. The facility is equipped with a gymnasium (cap. 241) with two basketball hoops and a volleyball net, a meeting / event room (cap. 42) with fireplace and air conditioning, a kitchen with a serving window, stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave oven, sink, and coffee makers, restrooms and an additional shower room, and an outdoor gazebo next to the pond with a wheelchair-accessible fishing area.
