Indy Fit
We have brought together the dedicated staff of our Parks & Recreation Department and some of the finest healthcare practitioners in and around Northeast Ohio to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. Indy Fit provides well-thought-out health and wellness programs, informational materials, and purpose-driven exercises to meet its mission to have a positive impact on the community; help others become the healthiest versions of themselves, and motivate others to reach their fullest potential by setting and reaching challenging goals they might not have otherwise imagined.


The Indy Fit pass is now available for purchase! This 8-class punch pass ($40 for residents, $45 for non-residents) covers all of our city-run fitness classes, listed below. Classes are continuous registration, and Indy Fit passes are available at the Civic Center Recreation Desk. Indy Fit class walk-in fees are $8.

Barre Fusion
Sundays - 10:00 a.m. 
Civic Center Aerobic Room

Barre Fusion is a fitness class that combines the principles of ballet, yoga, Pilates, and calisthenics to improve cardio, strength, and flexibility. There is a strong emphasis on posture, core strength, and proper technique. A ballet barre is used with one’s body for resistance while performing various leg, hip, and seat exercises. Light hand weights are used throughout the class to focus on toning arms, back, and shoulders. No dance experience necessary!

Indy Fit Boot Camp
Wednesdays - 6:30p.m.
Civic Center Aerobic Room

Our fast-paced workouts combine a variety of high-intensity cardio & strength exercises. This class will help participants shed fat, increase cardiovascular strength, and get you the toned body you are striving for. INDY FIT BOOTCAMP offers a variety of exercises designed for a well rounded, total body workout. Some examples of our workouts will include weights, resistance bands, intervals on the bike, steppers, gliders, kettlebells, bodyweight exercises...and so much more! Join us every Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm in the aerobic room for a dynamic 1-hour workout!

Outdoors and meets at Elmwood Recreation Building

Work your muscles in every way possible in this class designed to build muscle strength, definition, and endurance. In this class, we utilize our own body weight, resistance bands, and more. No muscle gets neglected in this class!

Sculpting Circuit 
Tuesdays @ 8:15 a.m.

Civic Center Aerobic Room

Sculpt and tone your body while improving your cardiovascular system. Suitable for all levels, you will obtain overall fitness, reduce body fat, increase energy, improve core strength and so much more!

Come join us for a total body workout that includes a variety of easy-to-follow exercises that will burn calories and sculpt and tone your entire body. This class will help increase your strength and improve overall balance. This fun, low-impact workout is perfect for all levels of fitness and is designed for the young at heart!

Cardio Sculpt
Mondays - 6:00 to 7:00pm

6-class punch card ($60/residents, $65/non-residents) or $12 walk-in fee

This class is a total body workout. You will burn calories and sculpt and tone your entire body.

Jazzercise
Monday through Friday: 9:30 AM
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 5:30 PM

Each 60-minute class offers a blend of exercise 
with the fun of dance, set to your favorite music. 
Easy to follow, fun choreography includes a gentle 
warm-up, a 30-minute aerobic workout, muscle 
toning, and a strengthening segment with weights 
and stretch finale.

Jazzercise is the original dance exercise phenomenon! Each 60-minute class offers a blend of exercise with the fun of dance, set to your favorite music. Easy to follow, fun choreography includes a gentle warm-up, a 30-minute aerobic workout, muscle toning, and a strengthening segment with weights & stretch finale.

Jazzercise is a continuous registration program. Your Jazzercise card allows you to attend any class that meets your schedule – inquire about autopay to have fees automatically withdrawn from an account on a month-to-month basis.

Indoor Pickleball
Residents (The SPONSOR)

  • All resident sponsors must be current domicile residents of the city.
  • All resident sponsors must be registered as a current PICKLEBALL player with the city to sponsor a nonresident (NR) player.
  • Pickleball residents may SPONSOR up to three (3) nonresident players.
    • (NR on file in Sportsman)
  • Resident sponsors will need to be present at the time of the nonresident registration
  • Once registered the resident need not be present for play session.
    • **Sponsored players will be recorded on Sportsman in the “NOTES” section of the sponsoring resident.
  • Resident sponsor accepts the responsibility of the nonresident player for the course of the winter sessions.
  • Any misconduct of the nonresident will be the responsibility of the resident.
  • Residents will SIGN in each day they attend a scheduled session.
  • Residents will adhere to the conduct code of play by the city.

Non-residents (NR)

  • A nonresident (NR) of the City of Independence must have a registered city resident “SPONSOR” to participate in any of the scheduled city sessions at the Field House.
  • NR will be registered for the current winter session only.
  • NR will have a current Waiver on file with the City of Independence.
  • NR will be on file within the Sportsman registration system with sponsor designation in the notes.
  • NR Residents will SIGN in each day they attend a scheduled session.
  • NR will abide by and follow all posted city rules and regulations for the facility and for the pickleball session play time.
  • NR will adhere to the conduct code and schedule of play set by the City of Independence.
  • NR may attend any session without the Sponsors attendance at the facility.

 Punch cards     one card = 10 entries for $50.     Individual day pass = $5

  • ONLY one card per individual. (No family or shared passes)
  • Cards must have the NR name and the Sponsors name on each card purchased.
  • NR may purchase a punch card pass to be used for 10 separate
  • BE ADVISED - passes may expire at the end of the winter season.

IMPORTANT:  It is the responsibility of ANY player to contact the Field House front desk to check for play schedule prior to attending a scheduled session. **The field house is a school and community shared facility, and schedules may change without notice.
The city officials and staff have the right to decline or dismiss any player who may not be following general code of conduct.
There are 4 courts set up at the FH. Players are responsible for the care and wellbeing of the equipment. It is at the discretion of the Independence Staff to add playing courts.

Schedule:  Intermediate/Adv.:  M-F = 9am to 12pm      Advanced Play: Wednesday evening 7pm to 9pm
General court rules: Social rotation, NO PRIVATE play during these sessions.

Zumba
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 7 to 8 p.m.

Zumba is a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system set to motivating Latin music for every fitness level and age. It is so fun you may just forget that you are really exercising! A cardio-based workout, Zumba also strengthens and tones the entire body.
