The City of Independence has a unique opportunity to purchase property and work with a developer to establish a neighborhood of limited-maintenance, single-family homes nestled in the heart of downtown Independence.
On November 15, the Council adopted an ordinance that authorized the city to enter into a purchase agreement with Concordia Lutheran Church to purchase 18 acres of property for $475,000.
On Thursday, Dec. 15, Mayor Kurtz held a town hall meeting at the Civic Center to answer residents' questions and gauge their interest in this type of housing development. If you were not able to attend, here is the presentation and a factsheet with answers to questions we received prior to the town hall.
Mayor Kurtz will continue to share updates on this exciting project on the website and his Weekly Update. There will also be additional public meetings in 2023. If you have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
